TELEVISION & MOVIES

i grew up watching a whole lot of tv. as a kid, it was mostly netflix cartoons or PBS-- i distinctly remember watching lolirock and glitterforce and winx. i liked a lot of magical-girl adjacent stuff.

i don't watch as much nowadays. i think i prefer it that way. out of the few things i do watch, very few of them hold my attention for long. even less leave a lasting impact, but here are the ones that do.

infinity train
favourite season... book one
favourite character... tulip
neon genesis evangelion
favourite character... rei
amphibia
favourite season... season two
favourite character... sprig or marcy
madoka magica scream (the original) re-animator
the blair witch project big hero six serial experiments lain

out of the above, i think my top three are infinity train, lain, and the blair witch project. i generally like fun things with serious undertones, i guess? but i wouldn't describe lain that way... ugh.

MUSIC

i love music. aside from just being good it gives my scattered brain something to focus on while i work! i'm very terrible at defining specific genres that i like... it tends to be kind of all over the place. i think it's a lot of rock, specifically grunge and garage rock, 'instrumentals' which is more like video game soundtracks and corporate background music, and a bit of indie "pop." i also like to listen to breakcore when i work!

i've been trying to avoid only listening to music on on-demand streaming platforms like spotify recently, so i've been collecting physical media & listening to internet radio stations a lot! i listen to albums on vinyl, and i've started buying cds as well :-) here's my vinyl collection:

Spirit Phone, by Lemon Demon. The Dentonweaver, by Raccoon Tour. A Constant State of Ohio, by Lincoln. Dinosaurchestra, by Lemon Demon. View Monster, by Lemon Demon. Danger Days, by My Chemical Romance. Welcome to the Black Parade, by My Chemical Romance. Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, by My Chemical Romance. April Fools, by The Scary Jokes. I Am Become Christmas, by Lemon Demon. 16/04/16 by Cavetown. Twin Fantasy: Mirror to Mirror, by Car Seat Headrest. The 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack. The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World motion picture soundtrack. Teens of Denial, by Car Seat Headrest. Power Chords, by Mike Krol.

as for CDs, i have mellon collie and the infinite sadness, the greatest hits of the cure & the eagles (separate), how to leave town, i hate jazz, and one of my own oc's playlists!

as stated earlier, there's a few radio stations i tune into every so often-- i want to find more, so send over some reccommendations if you have them! if not, here's my list.

Ktea FM 103.5 Cambria, California
KZSC Santa Cruz 88.1 FM Santa Cruz, California
Breakcore Mashcore Radio Online
lofi.cafe Online

and for completion's sake, here's a few (fiction) podcasts i like.

  • Wolf 359 - follows the crew members of the USS hephaestus and their adventures in the space around red dwarf star wolf 359
  • King Falls AM (discontinued, and kind of the worst, but it helped me get through freshman year of high school) - small town AM radio hosts encounter the paranormal
  • Alice Isn't Dead (i'm still listening to it) - protagonist keisha taylor gets a job as a trucker to look for her presumed dead wife alice
